We are a team of dedicated engineers based in the UK, working towards a novel technology for music performance. Orbiton One is our first creation and we have many exciting plans for the future.

Founded by musician and composer Mihai Traista, Orbiton was born after many research and prototyping projects exploring music instruments, sound design and synthesizers.

Who we are

  • Mihai Traista

    Founder

    Company leadership and product direction, managing development from concept to prototype, through finance and outreach. Ensuring Orbiton becomes an instrument that will make a genuine difference in music technology.

  • Erik

    Electronics engineer and embedded software

    Leads electronics R&D, taking the hardware from first concepts through schematics, board bring-up and test rigs. Writes the embedded software that ensures near-zero latency and excellent DSP performance.

  • Tom Hartley

    Mechanical engineer

    Leads mechanical engineering and tooling. Ensures the mechanical robustness of our device and engineers the custom lamella designs that give our instrument its distinctive voice, from prototype tooling through to production hardware.

  • Laurence

    High-performance audio specialist

    Designs our new generation of electronic boards around high-performance DSP components. Ensures audio quality end to end and a clean signal path, while keeping the boards manufacturable at scale.

  • Kacper

    DSP and instrument design

    Leads DSP and synth design, building the sound synthesis engines that run on our embedded device. Prototypes novel synthesis models, ensuring the sounds Orbiton generates feel organic to the performance and follow the lamella signals.

  • Max

    Product design and brand

    Defines how Orbiton looks, feels and is perceived — form, materials, interface and identity — ensuring a coherent and appealing look from the instrument itself to the website, brand and packaging.

  • Chaitra

    Design for manufacture

    Leads industrial design and DFM. Develops the production CAD and works with our suppliers to ensure every part is manufacturable at scale, at low cost, without compromising quality.
